VelvetShaken Simple Syrup
Inspired by techniques from Bon Appétit.
Sugar and water shaken together in a jar make a clear, smooth syrup for sweetening drinks. Dissolving the sugar first lets it mix evenly into cold drinks without leaving gritty crystals at the bottom.
None of the 14 major EU allergens. Always check the labels of the products you use.
Method
- 1
Shake the syrup. Put the sugar and water in the jar and screw the lid on tightly. Shake until all the sugar has dissolved and the liquid is clear, with no grains left at the bottom.
- 2
Keep chilled. Keep the jar tightly closed and refrigerate for up to 3 months. Makes about 360 ml, enough for 24 portions of 15 ml.
Storage
Keep tightly covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 months. Use clean utensils when taking syrup from the jar.
