Gefilte fish

Gefilte fish is a classic Ashkenazi Jewish dish of seasoned minced fish poached in a light vegetable broth, traditionally served chilled as a starter for Shabbat and festival meals. The name means roughly "stuffed fish" from its origins as a way to stretch fish further, and it's prized for its light, delicate texture alongside a sharp beetroot and horseradish relish.
